Olive oil is a brilliant natural beauty product which has been used for thousands of years.

Olive Oil Products: Body Scrub

To make a quick and easy body scrub mix together enough oil and table salt to make a paste. Rub this onto your body paying particular attention to areas where dry skin builds up: the knees, elbows, feet and hands. Then rinse well with warm water to reveal beautiful soft skin.

Nothing is more annoying than dry lips that you are constantly tempted to lick. Now you can just rub a drop of olive oil over them and voila problem solved.

Olive Oil Products: Hair Conditioner

Olive oil is a brilliant hair conditioner which is especially good if your hair has lost its shine or if you have dry or split ends. Take a small bottle or jar and half fill it with warm water, add half as much again of olive oil and shake well. If you have dark hair you may want to add a sprig of crushed rosemary at this stage, whilst blondes could add a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Pour small amounts of this oil/water mix into the palm of your hand and massage into your scalp and then work your way down your hair finishing with the ends. Now for the really attractive bit ... cover your hair with a plastic shower cap or plastic food wrap, leave it for half an hour and then shampoo as normal.

Run a warm bath and add a good splash of olive oil. Relax and enjoy (just be careful as the oil can make your bath slippery). When you get out gently massage your skin before towelling dry.

If you are on holiday you will find lots of lovely local brands of olive oil soap throughout France, Italy, Spain and Greece. If you need to buy via the internet some of the following are worth trying.

• Oliva pure olive oil soap from Greece is made with unrefined oil and is completely vegetarian and free from animal testing. This soap is widely available over the internet.

• Aleppo soaps from Syria are hand made using traditional methods. The soap comes as a large unpolished bar which is free from any additives. You can select olive oil soap or laurel (bay leaf) and olive oil.
